RE: angelfire.com/ga2/portman/summary.html
Dear Ms. Portman:
I am in receipt of your April 22, 2000 letter. As I mentioned in my April 12 e-mail to you, attached hereto, another Lycos user, Daryl Kidd, has claimed that your homepage contains libelous material. Attached is a letter from Mr. Kidd in that regard. Under the Lycos Network terms and conditions, Lycos may, among other things, remove or block access to any content on a user's homepage, including content that appears to be libelous or otherwise objectionable Instead of simply removing your homepage, however, I have suggested minor changes to the summary section of your site, which affect only a small portion of your homepage.
Through Angelfire, Lycos provides free services to users in an effort to maintain an open community for those users. While Lycos does not want to become involved in disputes between its users, sometimes it becomes necessary for Lycos to proactively address the competing interest of different users. Such is the case here, and I believe that Lycos has fairly addressed your and Mr. Kidd's concerns.
Unless you make the changes specified in my April 12 e-mail by June 6 at 5:00 p.m. EST, Lycos shall block access to the summary portion of your homepage (angelfire.com/ga2/portman/summary.html).
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Any written correspondence should be sent to me by e-mail or at the above address. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Very truly yours,
