The following is the text of a letter received by the Plaintiff Thursday, September 14, 2000:

Ms. Marquitta Portman
261 Pioneer Trail
Marietta, GA 30068-3470
Dear Ms. Portman,
Judge James asked me to respond to your letter dated September 5, 2000. I have enclosed both a copy of Judge Nix's order requesting a judge outside the Cobb circuit to hear this case and a copy of the order appointing Judge Rufe McCombs to this case.
I began as District Court Administrator on May 8, 2000. Apparently Judge Nix assumed that the Administrative Judge also changed on that date. When Judge James received the order, he forwarded it to my office so we could get the current Administrative Judge to assign an assisting judge to the case. The order appointing Judge Rufe McCombs was issued and filed in the Cobb County Superior Court pursuant to O.C.G.A. Sec.15-1-9.2. As you can see, Judge Boyett, who was the Administrative Judge until July 1, 2000, signed the order.
It is not the responsibility of my office to send copies of orders to attorneys or parties to a case. Copies of orders can always be obtained from the clerk's office in the court where the case was filed. It is your attorney's or your responsibility to know what is going on in your case.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
[signature of Jody Overcash]
Jody Overcash
District Court Administrator
cc: Judge James, Administrative Judge
